MedEx takes on Menchies Frozen Yogurt
Wow, time has flown by so fast. It is already week 2 of MedEx. In the morning, we finished up our "Body Stories" research. My group rehearsed over our presentation so many times, that we basically have it drilled in our head. Hopefully our presentation will be awesome tomorrow. It is about a male undergoing a ruptured spleen. My group is in charge of explaining the symptoms, treatments, types of splenectomies, and etc.. It was a difficult task going into it since I have never studied the spleen into detail. We decided to open up the presentation with a story of how it happened to this male. Since 17-25 year old's were in the room, we decided to make our patients spleen rupture due to texting and driving. We are hoping to enforce a strong subject that we all believe in while also educating our audience about our Body Story. A little later into the hour, tier four students came over to our tables to give us advice on our projects and college in general. The tier three students were very nice and helpful. Two of them were from USC, one was from Furman, and the other was from Clemson. It was really interesting listening to them try to sell us their school. I asked many questions especially about Clemson. They all enjoy and appreciate where they go. They also told us advice for applying to college, and life in general. I really appreciated time with them and I loved hearing what they had to say about their college experience along with the transition from high school to college. Today we started the day of with a few career lectures. One of them that I loved was CRNA. I have not really given that occupation a thought yet, and since we listened more about it, I've been researching it. Mr. Richard Wilson told us how much he loved his job and that he wouldn't choose anything else. As soon as he started his lecture, he noticed that we all were taking notes. Instead of note taking, he wanted us to absorb the information so he told us to put our notebooks us and just be engaged in the conversation. He made that very easy. I really admired his confidence and motivation to constantly succeed. We all want to succeed and hearing it for him, a man a who was determined to do what he wants to, was amazing. He had a passion for it, and explained in detail of how hard we have to work to get to that position. That presentation got me to think about my future and how hard I have to work to have a lifetime of success. I can be anything I want to, all I need is determination and perseverance.
Today was also Sarah's birthday so we decided to go to Menchies for frozen yogurt. It as so crowded, considering how small Menchies is. We had invited the interns so they also came an joined us. We filled the entire store. It was a good end to a Monday!
