Day 11

Today was a very long day to say the least. To break it down, I have improved my interviewing skills tremendously. Our calendars have interviews from 8-5, with a lunch in between.  I noticed how much I have improved. Before, I knew that the answers that I was trying to explain would not properly flow aloud, rather than what I had in my head. The second round of interviews has made me more confident in my speech and professionalism. I am so grateful for MedEx Academy for letting us get such great interview practice.

Towards the end of the day, our last interview questions was asked and we had to answer them in front of our whole tier. This was scary and nerve-racking for sure. However, I had to keep reminding myself that this is practice and that all my peers are family.

Day 12

Today is Clincal day!! Today I had the opportunity to shadow Greer Family Medicine! Dr. Bhansali and her staff were amazing to me. I felt so comfortable and welcomed there. I am not on the pre-med route; however, if I were, I think I would choose either pre-med or internal-med. My experience today allowed me to see the amazing relationships that they are able to form with their patients.

The environment is al so not as stressful as an ER for example, and I really enjoyed that aspect. I got out fairly quickly today!

Day 13

This morning, we started out with our groups and worked on our Health Policy Research project! After about an hour of this, we Caroline and Chris presented to us "Three Sides of A Coin". Later on, the M2's explained to us what IMP was. We went through a case study and attempted to diagnose a baby girl based on the information that was presented to us.

After lunch, my M2 mentor, Anne helped us with some clinical experience. She taught us 12 points to go over while trying to explore the pain a patient may have. We went over this so many times, that I think I have it nailed down.

Day 14

This was has flown by! To end it, I am shadowing internal med with Dr. Welcome. Since I think internal med/family med, I really enjoyed my time here. Dr. Welcome only had about 5 patients today since they close at 12 on Fridays. One of those patients did his appointment through teleheatlh. About two of the patients suffered from Diabetes and Dr. Welcome went through some factors that they can improve on to lower their blood sugar. She also went over how important exercise, like a simple walk can be. I was able to leave around 11:30 today!
