Day 21
WTF moment? No, that does not stand for what everyone might think. It actually means "What the Future" and it focuses on what we should do if some obstacles pop up along our healthcare journey. Life is very unexpected and things like relationships, kids, responsibilities, and work can get in the way or delay our future. It is always great to plan for things like this and that is what Uncle Al taught us. He also told us that we can always count on him if the obstacles to affect us. And I trust that so much. I know certainly that if I need a helping hand at the most random time, he will be there. It feels amazing to have such a great support system at Medex.

Next, we worked with Dr. Epright for our debate. We met up with our teams to discuss our topic and my group specifically is working on the pro aspect of scare resources. Although it is hard to agree with the topic that we are given, it is also very interesting to see how hard we can fight and grab information on it in order to support it.

After lunch, we were able to work on our personal statement for a it. I am starting from scratch and I keep building onto my statement. Anne, my M2 mentor, as been a great help in this process!
Day 22
This morning we started out with a presentation from Chris about competencies for entering graduate schools. Some of the competencies for medical school are interpersonal, intrapersonal, thinking and reasoning, and science. On the other hand, the competencies for nursing school are leading yourself, leading others, and leading the organization. This lecture allowed me to see how customer service relates to patient care. I have been a server for about five years now, and something that I have learned the most about the job is about how to treat customers so they leave happy and satisfied. This job will help me in the future to treat patients and interact with them. Since a big problem in health care is apathy and burn out, I think exposure to customers will allow me to aid future patients.
For Dr. Eprights lecture today, we learned about Law and Ethics and how they are related but not interchangeable. An example that is first perfect with this point are masks and if the government has the right to force you to wear one. Religion and ethics also play a role. You do not have to have both at all times..

Later on in the day, we were given the opportunity to go to the anatomy lab.
DAY 23
Today is Clinical Shadowing Day 9! I am shadowing an OT for the first time and it was AMAZING. Yes, I loved what OT is all about on paper, but experiencing their daily lives add so much more to the career. I was able to meet some amazing staff as well and they all advised and encouraged my throughout my journey.

My shadowing day was pretty short since the OT left early that day!
Day 24

Day25
Today I am shadowing at Better Beginnings, a pediatric occupation therapy office, in Spartanburg! Mrs. Jenna, the occupational therapist, was awesome. We has about 8 patients, and each patient has an hour session. I came across some outstanding kiddos and today is what made me seriously consider pediatrics. I was able to take a tour around the office and the environment feels fun, safe, and lovable. There is an indoor gym with activities like a swings, a tiny slide, and sensory obstacles which aid in the children's therapies.

Around 12pm, Spartanburg Fire Department was able to stop by and bring some smiles to the kids! They loved taking a tour in the fire truck, loved the lights, and most importantly the water!
